Vedic Culture represents humanity's most ancient and advanced spiritual/cultural expression.
From the very dawn of the human race and extending down to our own post-modern era, Vedic
culture has continuously contributed to world culture many of history's most significant
developments. These contributions have touched upon every aspect of the human experience -
including philosophy, the sciences, religion, the arts, politics and social theory.
As scholars of Vedic Studies, we are especially aware that Vedic culture is not merely a
phenomenon that pertains to the ancient past. Rather, the Vedic culture and religion is very
much a vibrant and living tradition. Further, we are painfully aware that this invaluable Vedic
culture is currently under genocidal assault in many parts of today's world. The followers of
Vedic culture have faced violent persecution, discrimination and cultural cleansing campaigns in
such places as Bangladesh, Pakistan and Fiji, as well as within India in such areas as Kashmir,
West Bengal, Kerala and the North-East region.
As professors and scholars of Vedic studies, we urge both the governments of India, Pakistan
and Bangladesh, as well as the governments of all the world's nations to help put a stop to the
sufferings and persecution of the Vedic people. We urge all who read this resolution to help
ensure the future survival of the world's most ancient culture by insisting to your government
officials that they help stop the current pogroms being deliberately carried out against the
followers of the Vedic tradition.
We resolve that Ms. Ishani Chaudhury's documented monograph detailing many of these atrocities
be forwarded to the governments of India, Bangladesh and Pakistan, as well as to the embassies of
these nations in the United States.
The current document was written by Dr. Frank
Morales and unanimously approved by over 300
scholars, professors and Hindu intellectuals at the World Association for Vedic Studies conference at the Stevens Institute for
Technology, Hoboken, New Jersey, U.S.A., July 30, 2000.
