"If one sincerely searches for spiritual salvation, then Krishna, being situated in everyone’s heart, gives him the intelligence to find a suitable spiritual master. By the grace of a spiritual master, one gets the proper instruction and advances in his spiritual life."

(Srimad Bhagavatam, 3.20.4)

What has been your own experience with your guru?

I feel that it is time to find a satguru, but do not know anyone nearby. My question is probably not original at all, and I feel I know the answer but could use some input on how to mesh my life as householder with my desire for realization. Arjuna's dilemma is like mine--Lord Krishna tells him to follow his dharma and describes correct action. Would having a guru help me figure out the correct dharmic path? Sometimes the actions required even if one is not attached to the outcome are still very painful for all concerned. I think it is a copout to drop out of life when one is responsible for those who are weaker and just forget them to seek moksha. However, I would love to discuss all this with a guru or listen to what he or she has to say on the matters specific to me. Is that what having a guru is about, being specific to one's own situation?
