BlackBerry may have won a reprieve but Google and Skype were squarely in the firing line Tuesday as India's security agencies widened their crackdown on telecom firms. India's 1.1 million BlackBerry users heaved a sigh of relief after the government Monday gave the smartphone's manufacturer a two-month window to provide a permanent solution to avert a ban on its corporate message services.

Security forces in India, battling insurgencies ranging from Kashmir in the northwest to the far-flung northeast, are insisting that telecom groups give them the capability to monitor their data.

MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russia's paramount leader, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, hinted on Monday he would return to the presidency in 2012 for six more years and said democracy protesters marching without permission deserved to be beaten.
Asked by the Kommersant daily newspaper in an interview whether Russia's 2012 presidential election did not worry him because he had already decided it, Putin replied:
"No, it interests me like...I wanted to say like everyone, but in fact more than everyone else. But I don't want to make a fetish out of it."

Sanatan means one which is from the begining and one which remains until the end, and Dharma means what is embodying in oneself (like full of Truth, kindness, forgiveness, piousness, with No anger, greed, lust, pride, ego). So the Sanatan Dharma is for humans who are born as humans and NOT as Hindus, Moslems, Christians, Buddhists, or any other sect and so called religions. Religion means Reunite. When we are born we are separated from our source GOD hence what Dharma we should follow in order to unite back with our source during our life time. That is YOG, unity, with GOD.

Global economic woes gripped investors on Tuesday, roiling financial markets from Tokyo to Dublin to New York.
Worries that started in Asia continued in the U.S. after housing numbers painted a grim picture of the economy.

In the U.S., the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped to its lowest close in seven weeks. The Dow finished down 133.96 points, or 1.3%, at 10040.45, its fourth consecutive decline and its ninth losing session in the past 11. The measure fell below 10000 during the day.

Day after day, investors have been hit with more evidence that the economy is stalling. The Dow is down over 4% this month, after an ebullient July that was fueled by impressive earnings results from U.S. companies.

The scripture, mantras, and teachers of Sanatana Dharma are full of God. The Absolute God of Sanatana Dharma provides overflowing and abundant grace...

The scripture, mantras, and teachers of Sanatana Dharma are full of God. The Absolute God of Sanatana Dharma provides overflowing and abundant grace to all those who are sincere. The promises of Sanatana Dharma are real and Yoga is the most detailed description of how to know God that exists.

Dharmis know that it is our purpose in life to escape ego to know God therefore the designs for our temples were created for the purpose of worshiping God rather than false ego in any way. Dharmis understand that we all are meant to have free will as long as it harms no one. We understand that everyone will have unlimited chances to know God until we finally choose to know God. Therefore Sanatana Dharma has been forced on no one and there have been no religious wars because of Sanatana Dharma. A few courageous Hindus have risked their lives to make their books available in oppressive countries but they have never forced their beliefs on anyone.

There is nothing in the scripture of Sanatana Dharma that will lead people to become terrorists or supporters of terrorists. Practicing Hindus do not believe in causing unnecessary pain and that is why they are vegetarian. The Vedas teach Dharmis to be non-violent except for when they have to defend themselves from a direct attack by someone evil. Followers of the Vedas know that false ego and illusion create the desire for violence.

Since the Vedas reveal that we are all eternal souls who are part of God, there is no difference in how women and men worship God in Sanatana Dharma. Therefore there is no oppression of women in the practice of Sanatana Dharma. Nowhere in the Vedas are women required to wear anything like a burqa or scarf over their head. Sanatana Dharma also liberates souls from the limiting illusion that we are just a gross material body made of flesh and bones.

Dharmis know that God will always be available to everyone somehow so they often forget that the cost of knowing God in this world is becoming greater each day. Because many Dharmis have such good karma, they are forgetting about Sanatana Dharma and they are not truly aware of the real nature of some other religions. This is causing them to take their religion for granted and they may even support other religions instead. Some have even denied that the Vedas are about God. The former Dharmis who don’t currently practice Sanatana Dharma are enjoying their very good life right now until their good karma runs out and they fall into human suffering again or worse.

It is easy for some Dharmis to forget that this era, the Kali Yuga, is an era of suffering for the Yogi. Dharmis today need to practice Sanatana Dharma in a stronger way and more strongly support their authentic religious leaders but they don’t know it. It is hard to communicate this to them because good karma can lead to great illusion.

A leader of the Hamas terror group yesterday jumped into the emotional debate on the plan to construct a mosque near Ground Zero -- insisting Muslims "have to build" it there.
"We have to build everywhere," said Mahmoud al-Zahar, a co-founder of Hamas and the organization's chief on the Gaza Strip.
"In every area we have, [as] Muslim[s], we have to pray, and this mosque is the only site of prayer," he said on "Aaron Klein Investigative Radio" on WABC.
OBAMA CATCHES HOLY HELL
"We have to build the mosque, as you are allowed to build the church and Israelis are building their holy places."
AP
'WE HAVE TO PRAY': Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf (inset) got support from Hamas co-founder Mahmoud al-Zahar (above left, with Gaza political leader Ismail Haniyeh), who spoke on WABC Radio yesterday in favor of Rauf's proposal to build an Islamic center in this downtown location two blocks from Ground Zero.
Hamas, he added, "is representing the vast majority of the Arabic and Islamic world -- especially the Islamic side."
Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY), who so far has not taken a position on the mosque, dismissed the endorsement.
"Hamas is a terrorist organization, and their views don't deserve any weight on anything," his spokesman said.
Zahar said Muslims around the world, including those who live in this country, are united in a common cause.
"First of all, we have to address that we are different as people, as a nation, totally different," he said.
"We already are living under the tradition of Islam.
"Islam is controlling every source of our life as regard to marriage, divorce, our commercial relationships," Zahar said.
"Even the Islamic people or the Muslims in your country, they are living now in the tradition of Islam. They are fasting; they are praying."
Politicians who previously had lots to say on the matter were not nearly as eager to discuss the latest development.
Despite his outspoken opposition to the building of a mosque so close to Ground Zero, Rep. Peter King (R-LI) said only, "I don't respond to Hamas."
Mayor Bloomberg, a strong supporter of the plan, declined comment through a spokesman.
Feisal Abdul Rauf, the imam behind the proposed mosque, and two other leaders of the plan who previously had commented extensively, were silent yesterday.
They did not respond to The Post's phone calls or e-mails about the Hamas endorsement.
Hamas first came up in the mosque debate earlier this summer when Abdul Rauf refused to describe the group as a terrorist organization -- despite the State Department listing that identifies it as such.
Tom Brown, a chief opponent of the mosque, said: "This is what we've been saying . . . Imam Rauf is a radical Muslim who will not call Hamas a terror group."
A retired firefighter who was a first responder on 9/11, Brown lost 100 of his FDNY friends at the Twin Towers.
"How much evidence do we need that this guy is a radical Muslim?" he asked.
"If Rauf really were a bridge builder and an interfaith guy and all the things he professes to be, he wouldn't be doing this to people."
Abdul Rauf raised eyebrows last week when he departed on a State Department-sponsored goodwill mission to the Middle East, despite concerns that the trip may be helping him with the mosque's $100 million fund-raising goal.
The Obama administration insisted the trip, reportedly with stops in Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain and Qatar, was strictly to improve understanding about Muslim communities in the United States.
But a London-based Arabic-language newspaper that interviewed Abdul Rauf reported that he said he would also collect money from Muslim and Arab nations around the world -- raising the possibility that the American government is helping him build contacts in oil-rich states.

How is usury defined:

Usury refers to interest and fees charged in relation to the lending of money.

What is usury:

At a personal level usury is a form of financial abuse that occurs between individuals when one person lends another person money with the expectation of collecting interest and/or fees in addition to the amount loaned.

At a societal level usury is an institutionalized form of financial abuse that systematically robs people of their earnings by way of predatory lending.

In the Bhagavad Gita (ch16, v12) Lord Krishna states “They (persons of demoniacal disposition) strive by unlawful means to amass hoards of wealth and fulfillment of their lustful desires.” and (ch16, v21) “Lust, Anger and Greed, these are the three gates of hell that destroy the soul and which should be shunned.”

In this light usury can be seen to be a form of greed that should be avoided. However given the current state of affairs in the modern world one is logically led to the question “How do I avoid participating in usury either as a lender or a borrower.” Let us explore that idea.

Here in the United States many people are convinced that they must participate in usury to be financially sound and successful. This is no accident. The concept that one must participate in usury is heavily marketed by various institutions using every form of media available and participation is made exceptionally easy. The idea that one must participate in usury to be financially successful is now so commonplace as to be considered “normal” and few people stop to consider the various ways in which their participation in usury robs them of their present and future peace as well as any chance of lasting financial success.

I know this because I used to be one of those "normal" people and just two years ago my wife and I had a variety of financial instruments in the form of credit cards, a mortgage and two car loans. We had willingly chosen to avail ourselves of these financial instruments and the institutions that had provided them to us were using them to leverage a substantial portion of our income away from us each month. We, like most people, had simply accepted that this was the way to be financially sound and successful and so round and round we went in financial misery.

About this time I began a new job that involved me working alone with a radio playing in the background. In the afternoon the radio station switched from music to three hours of talk radio. I was too busy at my work to change the station when it switched from music to talk radio so I listened to the talk radio show each day. For the first three days I only caught snippets of what the host of the radio show was saying but by the fourth day I began to pay closer attention. The show was “The Dave Ramsey Show” hosted by Dave Ramsey. This guy has some really radical ideas when it comes to debt and money. Here are a few of his more memorable quotes regarding the subject “Do not worship at the altar of the great FICO score”, “You cannot borrow your way out of debt”, “Your income is your greatest wealth building tool”

Dave Ramsey has a whole catalog of strategies for getting out of debt and staying out of debt. I eventually shared what I had learned with my wife and after she had studied it for herself we agreed to give it a try. We bought Dave’s book “The Total Money Makeover” and shortly thereafter attended the thirteen week course “Financial Peace University” through a local church.

Two years later we are no longer “normal” people. We have no credit cards or credit card debt, we sold the house and the mortgage along with it and we own both of our cars outright. We have payed off all our debts and this last month was the first time in our adult lives that we have had all of our monthly income available for current expenses (rent, gas, groceries). With all of our income now available we will soon be saving, giving and living like never before.

We used to suffer from constant discord about how to juggle our income to make the monthly payments but that is now, thankfully, a thing of the past. The financial peace that comes from not participating in usury has allowed my family to become more harmonious and the quality of our lives has improved. The spiritual path is also easier to follow when mundane material matters such as money and bills are less of a concern. This has truly been a blessing to me and my family. Thank you Sri Bhagavan.

As the leading writer and authority on the topic of Westerners adopting the religion of Sanatana Dharma, Sri Dharma Pravartaka Acharya (Dr. Frank Morales, Ph.D) is quoted extensively in this informative article about Julia Roberts' recent adoption of Hinduism (Sanatana Dharma) as her religion of choice. Let us all enthusiastically welcome Julia Roberts to the religion of Sanatana Dharma, as well as the many millions of other Westerners who are joyfully choosing Sanatana Dharma as their spiritual path.

"Julia Roberts: A Practicing Hindu, or Just Practicing?"

By Linda Van Slyke
The Examiner
August 10th, 2010 1:38 pm
http://www.examiner.com/interfaith-s...ust-practicing

In the September 2010 issue of Elle magazine, Julia Roberts announces that she is now "definitely a practicing Hindu." She states that she and her family go to a Hindu temple to "chant and pray and celebrate."

Visiting Hindu temples and engaging in their practices does not necessarily a Hindu make. Is this simply a "when in Rome..." (which she also visited) syndrome, or has Roberts actually embraced the core tenets of the religion?

According to Dr. Frank Morales (aka Sri Dharma Pravartaka Acharya), there are many fallacious ways of "becoming" a Hindu. These include automatically being born into the faith (through parents, caste, or nationality), and/or generically believing in reincarnation (without specifying much else).

Perhaps "Hindu by association" should be added to this list. Does visiting India count? Does acting Hindu within a major motion picture count? Does tacit compliance with restricted access to a Hindu temple during a holy season of worship count? Does dressing the part count? Does engaging in some of the rituals count?

Dr. Morales contends that the two primary factors which determine whether one is actually a Hindu (or actually an adherent of any of the world's great religious traditions) are these: (a) the scriptural authority upon which the tradition is based; and (b) the fundamental religious tenet(s) that it espouses. He therefore defines a Hindu as "an individual who accepts as authoritative the religious guidance of the Vedic scriptures, and who strives to live in accordance with Dharma, God's divine laws as revealed in the Vedic scriptures." By this yardstick, natives of India who reject the Vedas are not Hindu, whereas natives of America who embrace them are.

To what extent Roberts has embraced the Vedas is a question that only God (and millions of fans) can wrestle with. In the meantime, her own pronouncements shall have to suffice.

By Sri Dharma Pravartaka Acharya

We live in an age in which people have found it increasingly challenging to express the life-giving principles of spirituality and religion with as much seriousness, enthusiasm and dedication as was once the case. All around us, we witness on a daily basis all the destructive ravages of materialism, consumerism, greed, anger, lust and self-centeredness. Much of the war, poverty, sense of depression and meaningless, and social ills that are rampant today are directly due to the clear failures of atheism and an unsatisfying lifestyle dedicated to the pursuit of material acquisitions to the detriment of our inner spiritual growth. We have substituted television for meditation, emailing for prayer, the Internet for community, and sports for spirituality. Given all the challenges that we find ourselves facing today, it is understandable that some of us might find ourselves asking “Why should I be Dharmi, a follower of Sanatana Dharma?”

What precisely does Sanatana Dharma have to offer us?

The truth is there are many reasons why Sanatana Dharma (sometimes referred to as "Hinduism") offers us the best way to find the happiness, peace and prosperity that we’re all seeking. This small article will only offer a very small number of these many benefits of the Dharmic way of life. For more in-depth information, visit Dharmacentral.com, and please read the other informative articles available here.

Sanatana Dharma is the most ancient and respected religion in the world. Due to the spiritual peace, personal empowerment, overall health and satisfying lifestyle it offers its followers, Sanatana Dharma has survived intact for over 5000 years. It has survived – when many other religions didn’t - because its teachings are time honored and true. It's lasting influence can be seen in the very name of our tradition, "Sanatana Dharma", or The Eternal Natural Way.

Dharmic ideas, philosophy, spirituality, and art have influenced more people in world history than any other religion on earth. Among those in the West who have been highly influenced by the teachings of Sanatana Dharma are: Schopenhauer, Emerson, Thoreau, Mark Twain, Romain Rolland, Einstein, Aldous Huxley, J. Robert Oppenheimer, Christopher Isherwood, J.D. Salinger, Arlo Guthrie, George Harrison, movie director David Lynch, and actress Julia Roberts, among the many thousands of other well-known writers, intellectuals, scientists and artists who have incorporated aspects of Sanatana Dharma into their lives. Even today, tens of millions of Americans, Europeans, famous celebrities, and scholars find spiritual solace and intellectual assurance in the amazing teachings of Dharma.

Sanatana Dharma is the most tolerant, peaceful, and non-fanatical religion in the world today. Unlike many other religions, Sanatana Dharma isn’t based on blind belief, dogma, closed-mindedness or fanaticism. Rather, it’s based upon your own intelligent discernment in searching for Truth, your personal experience with God, the guidance of the Vedic scriptures (the most ancient collection of writings in human history), the living example of hundreds of generations of liberated yogis and sages who traversed the path before us, and respect for you as a free person and an intelligent seeker.

In addition to having very rational and fulfilling religious principles, Sanatana Dharma is also a very practical path that offers us real tools for having more peace and joy in our lives. The meditation, prayer and ritual practices of Sanatana Dharma have been scientifically proven in thousands of studies to reduce stress, depression, anxiety, nightmares, and many other illnesses. These Dharmic practices have produced multiple millions of enlightened beings throughout world history, and have been proven to be just as relevant and effective in our own modern age. It is for this reason that hundreds of millions of the world's inhabitants practice meditational techniques today, almost all of which can be ultimately traced back directly to the tradition of Sanatana Dharma.

The Dharmic diet of lacto-vegetarianism has been shown by the entire medical community to be the healthiest and most nutritious diet in the world. The traditional Dharmic medical system of Ayurveda is now being studied in many of the top medical colleges in the world as a safe, natural and highly effective sister-modality to contemporary allopathic medicine. And Yoga, the Dharmic path of self-realization, is now practiced by hundreds of millions of people outside of India for optimal health, stress-reduction, clarity of mind, as well as to experience the direct reality of their true spiritual selves. In American alone, about 20 million people practice Yoga on a regular basis. The reason why so many millions of intelligent, educated, health-conscious and spiritually-inclined people practice Yoga is very simple: They've seen that it works!

Of all the many reasons why you should be a Dharmi, however, the most important one is because it is through Sanatana Dharma that you can have a personal and vividly transformative experience of God. The ultimate goal of Sanatana Dharma is to experience God's presence in a radically personal and real way. When God is placed in the center of your personal life and your family life, there is no challenge, no problem, no illness, and no difficulty that you cannot face with courage and contentment. Sanatana Dharma is the most direct path there is for knowing God’s love and grace in your life.

Sanatana Dharma is a religious path that is open to all human beings, regardless of your race, nationality, ethnicity, previous religious background or language. Sanatana Dharma is not "Eastern", "Indian", or "Asian". It transcends all nationalities and ethnicities. All that is required to achieve the maximum benefit that this dynamic path has to offer you is sincerity, humility, an openness to guidance and growth, and your own eagerness to know the Truth. Sanatana Dharma is open to all.

If you find the teachings, lifestyle and practice of Sanatana Dharma to be the answer to your spiritual search, the members of International Sanatana Dharma Society (ISDS) welcome you to embrace your spiritual heritage with joy and renewed vigor. Sanatana Dharma is God’s gift to you and to our suffering world.
