    Default Feelings during meditation

    Namaste all

I was wondering if people could guide me in understanding the message as I get the following when I meditate:

Vasuki, I am a shaivite, I can feel a snake around my neck coiled almost like Shivaji.
I often seen violet light and black nets in visions and sometimes I see this light and a golden light together. I know it maybe my 3rd eye doing something, (Mine is already open).

Is my Kudalini activated or there something I am missing?

    Love you all

    Default Visions in meditation

I have never had any sort of vision while I meditate, but I have read about it often. What I can tell you with 100% accuracy is that I am completely unqualified to try and interpret that imagery!

The only advice I have is to still the mind, try a mantra, and attempt to return to that source of peace and light deep inside of you. The only other thing I can think of is to be mindful of what your goal is with your meditation practice. I recommend you set your intention as self realization and God realization, as these are the highest goals to be attained in meditation. Meditating for the sake of visions can yield success, but what is a vision compared to the sweet nectar of Divine Love?

I wish you luck on your path.

the successful is one who finds Him.'

I often sing a mantra whilst this is happenng. It's usually a Nataraja song, one which is on Youtube which does:

    Nataraja nataraja
    Sundara Nandara nataraja

    Sivaraja Sivaraja
    Sivakami Priya Sivaraja

    Chidambaresa Nataraja
    Parthi Purisa Sivaraja

I also have a version of Shivnamas Pujna which can often have the same effect to me as well, I have to use mantras to still my mind anyways.

I have to get back to Metta Bharvna meditation as well.

    Dear:

One week ago a strange experience has begun to engulf me..

    1. During meditation, my body begins to shake effortlessly. (I can stop it however.) But, when I go into deep space during my concentration, then the urge to shake and/or rotate comes very naturally.

    2. I can go deep into my thinking space and can experience all kinds of light, color, energy bubbles. I can move these energy light and strings around and splash it on my body. I can visualize my body being turned into a ball of gentle flare of energy. I feel very blissful. Yes, I can visualize divine type colorful images.

    3. This blissfulness experience began ten days ago, and the sensation around my chest has been lingering ever since. It has subsided somewhat lately. It intensifies in the late evening and gives me an urge to meditate. After the session, It feels like being drunk on nectar. (I have never done any drugs, so it is not that craving.)

It may eventually go away, and some even describe it as a Kundalini awakening (according to a blog writing on Kundalini. I have even seen videos where some people shake during the meditative sessions.). Anyway, am I doing anything wrong in my meditation session by exploring those lights, energy bubble, string, and bright visual sensations? Am I doing any harmful thing with my mind by doing the color visualization? Should I stop such efforts? Again, in such light visualization experience I am not concentrating on a single "object". Instead, I follow those lights. Am I doing anything wrong?

Could you please enlighten me on this?

    hello rahul,

this is a fairly common occurence. a variety of things can be experienced and percieved during meditation. there is nothing wrong with this as long as you realise that it is not the ultimate goal of meditation. i would not recomend becoming too attatched to the experiences because it is only tempral and superficial. however if i were you id enjoy it for as long as it lasts. there are some things to consider though.

ayurveda and samkya philosophy would say to bring your attention to the gunas of sattva, rajas and tamas. where would your experiences fall in conjunction with these? then to the importance of balance between prana, teja and ojas. an imbalance of these essensial components of yoga can bring various disorders/diseases to the mind-body complex. in the sixties when many westerners began intense and essoteric yogic practices, there was a term for some of these individuals who ended-up in the psych.ward..."kundalini poisoning". this is a result of high tejas and prana without sufficient ojas.

so it seems that the kundalini is rising to the heart chakra. the shaking may be due to high prana and or low ojas. we aquire prana primaraly through yogic breathing. tejas through studies of scripture, a spiritual teacher/master, and/or jnana yoga. ojas through dietary nutrition. your dosha should also be considered. if you are vata and are doing exessive pranayama, internal cleasing or fasting, this could explain the shaking. ayurvedically speaking, if this is the case it could potentially cause vata-related disorders: gas, constipation, arthritis, tremors, mania, etc.

    Thanks Sean:

Since I posted it, it has subsided. That utter blissful sensation around my chest is gone.

I am a normal professional with normal habits. I eat normal, and keep busy with my professional activities.

I also must confess that the ten days of experience was very unusual in the sense that I was completely involved in it -- thinking, practicing, reading etc.. Lately, I have had some busyness; and I also had some arguments with my partner. This negative vive has also affected me, and so I suspect that's why the blissfulness has gone now. Now we have reconciled.

I do have an ease with my meditation practice, and I feel good about it. But I do enjoy doing what I call "energy meditation." That is, I begin to get all of these lights, strings, and bubbles. That is I don't concentrate on one spot of my body or a thing. I do enjoy playing with these amazing light aura. I wonder if this is a good practice of doing meditation. Feedback welcome.
